This came up in my Facebook feed the other day. It was posted by Vlad Rimburg (Action Director, Fight Choreographer), but was apparently made by Jay Kwon.
If you want to kick back and watch some cool, bloody weapons fighting, then look no further!
Here is a little treat for all you kung fu movie fans out there! This was considered a lost film, since there were no known copies of it in existence. However, that changed when it got dropped onto YouTube in 2016. I don't know who owns the copyright on this and I don't know how long it may stay up. But here it is...
(In Chinese with no subtitles!)
I'm just gong to re-post this, since it is so cool! It originally came from KendoStar's Facebook Page, and I'll quote the poster from there:
"Take a look at this amazing bout from this year's Kyoto Taikai - Hanshi
division - featuring Shiro Konishi Hanshi (94yrs old) vs Yoshio Takasaki
Hanshi (96yrs old)!"
I've spent a little too much time on Facebook lately, but while I'm there, I do manage to come across a lot of cool stuff. This came from a page called Historical Weapons Research Journal. The byline, according to them is 1898, San Francisco. Just a little piece of history.
I do wonder if either survived or not, even though it says neither would recover.
Yamato Budogu posted this on their Facebook page, and I found it rather fascinating. Head on over and have a look at this video. It's not long (about 8 minutes), but it gives a good look at a lesser known school. You'll notice that it was originally broadcast on NHK World.
