Ellis Amdur demonstrates Araki-ryu and Toda-ha Buko-ryu at Aiki Expo 2005

From Aikido Journal comes some really good aikido with weapons. A bit different in style than what some may be used to seeing, but still really nice.

Enjoy!

The Kendo Show

Andy Fisher has struck out  and has started his own web show on kendo. You can check out his Facebook page, or his YouTube channel. He has also started up his own web store for gear. While it is of high quality, it is also a bit expensive ... at least to me! (I'm poor!)

There are several episodes up already. Here is the latest, on different shinai and shinai maintenance.

Enjoy!

Jack is Back | Samurai Jack | Adult Swim

Yyyeeesss!!!

Form the description:
"Adult Swim is excited to announce that JACK IS BACK. Creator and
executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of
Samurai Jack with a new season that will premiere on Adult Swim’s
Toonami block in 2016."

I can't believe I missed this. From reports, it looks like this will be the long awaited continuation of the series. I can't wait!

Some Goofiness...

Never let this happen to you! If someone wants to record you, make sure you have some skill. I don't know what the auditions were, but they got some doozies!

Yeah, it's been around a while, but it is still hilarious!

Ota (Hanshi 7th Dan) vs Takasaki (Hanshi 8th Dan), 112th Enbu Taikai

Ota Sensei is still at it. This is from the 112th Enbu Taikai in Kyoto, Japan. Ota (the one on the right that remains standing) is 102 years old! His training would have started between WW I and WW II (He was born in 1912!) This will explain his rank of Hanshi 7th Dan. He is at the highest possible rank since he started under an older ranking system. by the way, Takasaki is only 93!

Enjoy, this being my 100th post!

Two Sword vs. Two Sword

You don't see this too often! Nito x Nito! (In other words: two swords versus two swords.)

The two sword sword style always consists of a long (daito) sword and a
short (shoto) sword. The short is used for defense while the long one is
used for offense. It's very hard to penetrate and very hard to defend
against.

The Greatest African American and Afro-American Martial Artists in History

The following is a link to an article published by Out of this Century. It's a pretty interesting read if you have the time. Most people don't think that there might have been African descendants who were also swordsmen in the west.

Just goes to show ... you don't know what you don't know!

Pre Vis Action

This just dropped a couple of days ago. It's from the director of The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2: Berandal, Gareth Evans.

From the description:
"Designed in under a week, it was shot over the course of 3 days on location in Hirwaun, WALES. The short sequence was shot using a Sony NEX-7 with only the Director and Cast on location. No other crew and cast worked on this project during the shoot."

Have fun!
